Key Copy and Duplication

Keys are cut on the job, at your address. Hand the locksmith the original, and the copy is cut and tested in the door.

What can be copied

  • Standard house and apartment keys on common keyways
  • Office, padlock, cabinet, and gate keys
  • Restricted and high-security blanks, cut only for the registered cardholder
  • Keys for locks we install or rekey

Why a copy is cut from the original

Every copy loses a little accuracy. A copy of a copy of a copy is how you end up with a key that sticks. Bring the best-cutting key you own and the new one is cut from that.

When a copy is not the answer

If the key is badly worn, bent, or the lock is already hard to turn, a copy inherits the problem. In that case the locksmith can decode the lock and cut a fresh key to the factory spec, or rekey the cylinder and hand you a clean set.

Common questions

Can you copy a key marked do not duplicate?

That stamp is a request, not a law, but restricted keyways need the card. Without it, the locksmith will not cut the blank.

Do you come out just to copy keys?

Yes. It is part of the mobile service. Many people add it to a rekey or lock visit, but a keys-only visit is fine.

What about keys for a vehicle?

Automotive keys are not part of this service. A dealership or an automotive locksmith is the right call for those.
